We provide a stimulating and fun enviroment for your baby to interact and socialise with peers of a similar age and work alongside you to provide continuity between your child's home and nursery routines.
Moonbeams have the use of two main areas to play in; the main play room which has a comfortable area with sofas and cushions to enable us to bottle feed and have lots of cuddles;a washable area of flooring where we have our meals and participate in messy activites; a carpeted area for play with our variety of toys to develop every individual child's needs. The other room we use is a bright sensory room. We have various lights, visual aids and feely items for the children to explore using all their senses.
We hold Heuristic Play sessions in the sensory room which is a self-motivated learning programme through exploration and discovery - again using all their senses. It is play with everyday objects and natural materials rather than toys.
The sensory room is also used as a sleep room . We use travel cots for the Little Moonbeams and when we feel they are ready we move them onto a sleep mat with blanket or in fine weather, the babies can sleep outside.
We split the babies into two groups; Little Moonbeams and Moonbeams who are slightly older. The split is based on age and developmental stage.
Twice a week the children from Moonbeams group join, along with thier fey worker, for "special time" with the Little Stars group. During this time they take part in Heuristic Play and fundamental Movement for Early Years.
We hold daily "music time" where we sing familiar nursery rhymes and action songs using musical instruments. Twice a week we are joined by the Little Stars group for our songtime, enabling the children to become familiar with the other staff in the nursery and the children in the next age group they will be moving in to.
We have our own fenced off garden where we play when the weather is suitable. In our garden we have seeesaws, slides and a sand pit and during the summer we also have our own special paddling pool. Moonbeams alao join up with Little Stars on the grass and tarmac gardens regularly for planned activites.
We occasionally take the Moonbeams outfor local walks in push chairs. We may go feed the ducks or to see the geese and horses, Sometimes we visit the park where there is a fenced off area to run and play safely.
